Richard asks…
I have a few questions about acne and these products i have, and what to use? please help A.S.A.P!?
Okay first let me explain something about myself. I am a 13 year old girl suffering with i’d say about mild acne. But occasionally i get big pimples. i have lots of just small whiteheads on my chin and nose area, and regular pimples on my forehead. I have had it for going on 3 and a half years now and i have tried ever single fricken product out there almost. Anyways i really just need your guys’s help and please be specific. One guy on here said something about a clay mask but didnt give details. Im asking for home made acne facials, products you know of, things that will clear my face once and for all! oh and i guess i would say i have acne scars, but their not like the regular big indented acne scars most people have, they are like discoloration and small, SMALL indents in the skin. in those three areas, forehead, chin and nose area. so things that will help those as well will really be helpful thanks!
here is a list of the products i have:
- Womens one a day multivitamin
- facial steamer
- acne mask i got from tj maxx
- health and beauty aztec secret indian healing clay mask that you mix with apple cider vinegar
- equate sensitave skin astringent
- proactiv step 2 revitalizing toner
- conair cleaning brush (you turn it on and it swirls around, its what you wash your face with)
- shisheido pureness deep cleansing foam
- safeway acne treatment cream
- origins clear improvement actice charcoal mask
- clearasil daily face wash
- natralia naturally australian acne rescue cream
- blemish fighting ice cleanser
- olay pore minimizing cleanser and scrub
- neutragena grapefruit acne wash
- cetaphil face wash
products i actually use:
- neutragena grapefruit acne wash(morning and night)
- acne rescue cream(sometimes)
- clay mask (sometimes)
- equate astringent(after washing face)
- safeway acne treatment crea(overnight)
yeah thats usually what i do. but see sometime i switch them out cause i feel like they dont work but not usually. and i only do masks and stuff sometimes. but what i always do is wash my face no matter what.
out of all of that would you reccomend anything?
and sometimes when i do facials and stuff i open my pores with the steamer, rinse my face with hot water, put on the clay mask, and rinse with cool water with my face wash. i feel like the clay mask makes my face oober reed and doesnt do anything. should i use it, rinse it off, then use it again, rinse it off then use it again once a week? so three times a day? or no. Oh and i am trying to make my hair grow so i just started using womens one a day vitamins for that and it has zinc in them which is good for your skin. ANyways i was wondering what should i do? facials you would recommend? please help me :/ oh and i am also using bare essentials mineral makeup.
thanksss:)

Try avoid touching your face. Pull up your hair away from your face when ever you can, when you go to bed, just chilling with friends or around the house. Those are just simple things to help putting oil on your face.
Now, why don’t you ask your parents if they can get you a face wash from the store.
This will help scrub away the dead skin cells and dirt away from your face and it’s not expensive.
I have mild acne and mild scars from picking and popping my pimples. Also avoid doing both of these things. I have neutragena grapefruit acne wash also and it doesn’t seem to help so much. You may need to try something a bit stronger.
When I first went to a dermatologist, he recommended that I get http://www.walmart.com/ip/CeraVe-Foaming-Facial-Cleanser-12-oz/15735255 and it’s like $12 at walmart. It dries your face up a lot. But there is a mosturizer to put on after that, it helped my face a lot but now it’s just not doing.
I hope that helps.

Unbearable skin! Your reccommendations..?
I’m 15 and have had horrible skin my entire life.
I have a very oily tzone and then the rest of my face is dry.
But I have acne in all areas.
I’ve tried proactiv
st ives
dermalogica
clean and clear
and numerous other over the counter brands.
My doctor perscribes clearsil, but had no results.
I also tried Differin, and it helped for a while but stopped after a few months.
RIght now I’m using dermalogica.
I wash day and night and use the overnight clearing gel before i go to bed and clearing mattifier in the morning.
This system helped for a few months, but my skin has gotten worse and shows no sign of improving.
What do I do?

I personally use Dermalogica and you should be alright with it. But you are 15 years old and if you read the labels on those particular Dermalogica products, they are for ADULT acne. You should be using the Dermalogica CleanStart line. This is a line that is specifically designed for teenage acne. It handles those hormonal changes that go along with maturing and is much more gentle than the adult acne products. Here’s the home page for the line:

It’s really great. Just remember, these are the steps that you should be doing to clear your skin up:
Cleanse – with a clearing face wash
Tone – with an alcohol free toner
Treat – a clearing gel or serum that goes on light in a concentrated dose.
Moisturize – With an oil free lotion.
When your skin clears up, there are some steps that you can change or add if you are looking to keep you skin clear.
Cleanse
Exfoliate – ONLY if you have no open sores or healing pimples.
Tone
Treat – You can continue treatment if you feel you need it, but once your skin clears, you should be able to keep up with it easily.
Moisturize – With a day and night lotion
Make sure that you keep using these products even after your skin clears up. When you turn 19 or 20, you can switch to the adult acne products or whatever products suit your skin once you’ve exited adolescence. Also, these products are higher quality than Proactiv and Clean and Clear and they don’t do any kind of animal testing. Which lines like Clean and Clear, Neutrogena, and Proactiv do. Good luck hon!
